It seems that this issue has been solved in recent system software updates, but it’s crucial that you update your PS5 as soon as possible. The only recourse users had was to return their consoles to Sony for replacement. The problem is that for some PS5s Rest Mode ended up being more of an eternal slumber, with consoles refusing to power back on.
You can charge your controllers and download software and updates in the background while Rest Mode is active. As with the PS4 that came before, the PS5 has a Rest Mode function which puts the console to sleep, but ready for action. One of the most serious PS5 problems that users have encountered is the dreaded Rest Mode “bricking” issue.
